Klosterneuburg Spring Festival
Klosterneuburg is celebrating spring awakening with the Klosterneuburger Frühlingserwachen festival! From 24 to 26 April, the festival is back for its second year, offering a great mix of activities that range from wine tastings, lively markets, and a clubbing night to art projects. The Chamber of Commerce courtyard on Rathausplatz will be transformed into the Art Area. Get involved at the Active Area in Rathauspark, where exciting hands-on activities await all ages. Friday, there's the Jungwinzer Clubbing in the Babenbergerhalle, followed by a Vespa Meetup on Rathausplatz and the Spring Concert by the Stadtkapelle on Saturday. Don't miss out on the markets, tours of Klosterneuburg, the district wine tasting at the Weinbauschule, and more at this two-day spring event. A cute little tourist train will connect all the locations, making exploring easy.
Public Health Plan 2040+ for Lower Austria
The Health Pact was approved in the Lower Austrian Parliament on 27 March. It involves restructuring the healthcare system in Lower Austria. At the Landesklinikum Klosterneuburg, there are plans to expand the day clinic and create a specialised centre for modern geriatric care. The maternity ward, known as the "Babyvilla," will close. The rationale is that the local population is shifting to an ageing one. It also takes into account the upcoming wave of Baby Boomers entering retirement.
Science: New Research Project Starts / Get to Know Klosterneuburg Abbey's Research Team
A new project in Klosterneuburg is helping to fill the gaps in the city’s history by documenting historical inscriptions on buildings. Residents are encouraged to get involved in the Citizen-Science-Project. Find out more at an informational event at Stift Klosterneuburg's Augustinus Hall on 6 May.
On 25 April, the event series "Klosterneuburg schafft Wissen" by the Volkshochschule and the Municipality will continue with a lecture at Klosterneuburg Abbey. The Abbey established a Cultural Studies research centre (FoKuS) two years ago, that studies the cultural heritage found and maintained within the Abbey's historical collections. It encourages research using new research methods and seeks contemporary perspectives on ancient sources. The lecture 'Eternal Pursuit of Knowledge' introduces the Cultural Studies team's ongoing work and research.
25 April, 17.00, Augustinussaal, Klosterneuburg Abbey. Admission is free! Please register by emailing vhs@klosterneuburg.at or calling (+43) 2243 / 444 - 473.
