In Austria, registration is mandatory. Within three days of moving into the accommodation, a registration must be made with the competent registration authority, which must be confirmed by the accommodation providers.
Accommodation providers are advised to make copies of these documents.
Anyone who permanently gives up their accommodation is obliged to deregister with the registration authority. You can deregister at any registration office.
You must deregister in person, in writing or online within 3 days before and no later than 3 days after moving out of your home. A separate registration form must be completed for each person to be deregistered. The signature of the accommodation provider is not required. In addition to deregistration at the registration office, the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum must also be informed.
If Ukrainian refugees permanently give up their accommodation and do not (or cannot) deregister in person, their original documents (proof of identity) or a certified copy and a completed registration form must be sent to the registration authority or given to the courier. If this is not possible, the accommodation providers are advised to ask the registration authority to deregister them officially and to inform the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum.
